EUGENE ONEGIN w/Heartbeat Opera

A brand new 100-minute adaptation. Sung in Russian. Subtitles in English.

Composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
Libretto by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky & Konstantin Shilovsky
Co-Adapted by Obie Award-Winning Dustin Wills & Jacob Ashworth
Newly Arranged by Daniel Schlosberg

Directed by Obie Award-Winning Dustin Wills
Music Directed by Jacob Ashworth

Inside the ornamented drawing rooms of a buttoned-up society, three young outsiders flame into mismatched passion and combust, hurtling toward irreparable choices. Tchaikovsky’s long-suppressed queerness floods into every character of this propulsive drama, as they smash against one of the most romantic operatic scores in history. Our radical adaptation maps the composer’s own complex biography onto his characters and asks — how can we ever break free of the life we are born into?

Baruch Performing Arts Center
55 Lexington Avenue 25th St., New York, NY 10010

Tickets start at $35!

The Cockroach Diaries livestream

Hello friends!

I'm thrilled to announce that on November 25th at 6:00pm NYC time I will livestream on my YouTube Channel "The Cockroach Diaries," a project I've nurtured over the past two years. https://www.youtube.com/@niki_guitart

This will be a special event as I'm gearing up to record these ten guitar songs with the incredible sound engineer Jenn Nulsen. Your support would mean the world to me and will help me covering the recording costs. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps!

You can donate at the PayPal link here: https://www.paypal.com/pools/c/8ZfCDGgWZa

"The Cockroach Diaries" is a journey into the mind of a classical guitarist dealing with loneliness, creativity, and ambitions in New York City at the height of the pandemic.

Stuck in a foreign country and deprived of the possibility of performing for live audiences, the artist begins a conversation with a periplaneta americana living in the hidden crevices of her room. This unexpected relationship leads her into a quest for her own voice that will drive her away from musical scores to discover a new, empowered self.

Through classical and electric guitar, poetry and singing, The Cockroach Diaries is an intimate and explosive experience that leads the audience inside an artist's inner spaces during a time of healing and self discovery.

I can't wait to share this journey with you! We'll tackle any tech issues and go together on a journey. Please share this with your friends if you think they might be interested in joining. Here’s the link to my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@niki_guitart

See you soon!

Performance of Corie Rose Soumah: SPINNING, TOUCHED, UNDREAMT; SNOW-

Found Sound Nation (FSN) presents a four-evening festival in celebration of new musical ruminations and voices, as Artists in Residence of the 2023 MATA Festival. Inspired by over a decade of gathering people for collaborative creation and exchange across geographic borders, ages and disciplines, this year’s MATA festival features composers from a range of geographic and stylistic backgrounds, embracing the many ways in which new musical compositions are created, shared and passed down. Each evening of composer works follows a theme, with a culminating night of works by Found Sound Nation that delve into spaces of our subconscious—memories, dreams, and rituals—created in collaboration with local and global artists through a series of workshops, conversations and exchanges.
